Silent Treatment

It is Sunday. Will Shortz' NPR PuzzleMaster Challenge airs. I try to sleep in late but usually fail. And, apart from getting my groceries, I spend the day with crossword puzzles (three or four usually, five today) and a few chapters of the latest book I've picked up (after Dark by Haruki Murakami). Sundays are meant for fancies like these. If you do the whole church thing, well ... I don't know about that. And, so, another poser to consider:

The word psychology starts with a silent p, and the word coup ends with one. So far, so good. I am thinking of another word, this one with an interior silent P -- and one that is not derived from French. What word do I have in mind? Hint: delicious and nutritious.

Jenabeat is correct. If manzana means raspberry in Spanish then djpegleg is correct too.
