Straight To Hell

Apparently, in Britain dead rock stars are public domain. Dr. Martens has recently run ads in print using images of Kurt Cobain, Joey Ramone, Sid Vicious and Joe Strummer floating on clouds in capitalist heaven. These rockers' families were not consulted and Courtney Love is said to be irate.

I'm fairly pissed off as well. I've owned a few pair of Dr. Marten's boots over the years and Joe may have as well. But I'm pretty certain he wouldn't have agreed to this ridiculous pose for commercial gain if he were alive. Not exactly what he stood for is it? And, frankly, I sure hope Joe is in a much cooler place than this view of heaven.

Joe didn't oppose the use of Clash songs in advertising. He said he was in favor of it since the band never made a lot of money while together and some of the guys could use the dough (Topper?). I think Doc Marten needs to pay the families.

However, I don't think Joe would be seen dead in that outfit.
