Day Man, And Other Things Sunny

It's been a fairly crappy year in television. There are some new shows that I've been enjoying/have enjoyed (Mad Men, Aliens In America, Life) and of course the old faves (Office, 30 Rock, Survivor, Friday Night Lights.) Hopefully, the return of the Wire and Lost in January won't simply be bittersweet--it's the Wire's final season and Lost can be shaky--but just simply sweet. And, of course, there is still It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia. Easily the funniest show on television, and also, perhaps, the most offensive. Regardless, the following clip is from season 3, episode 9 "Sweet Dee's Dating A Retarded Person" and I have to watch/hear it at least once a day. In fact, I got all the kids in my science center in Emiliano's class to sing the song with me the other day.

[Setting] Mac, Frank and Charlie start a band. They kick Charlie out and replace him with Dennis, who doesn't last long because of his glam-rock leanings (you unfortunately do not get to see his maroon codpiece), so Dennis goes over to Charlie's to start a new band (Electric Dream Machine) and finds Charlie huffing paint in the dark. Dennis tears down the curtains, daylight streams into the room...[and cue scene]

And because a little Sunny is never enough, a promo for the third season

A less funny, but still offensive and work-place inappropriate promo for the third season

And in case my exposition for "Day Man" didn't really capture the magic of "Night Man / Day Man", and/or it really works better in context, here's the full genesis of the song and the band:
