So, yeah, this is May's edition of the music club. And yeah, it's almost the middle of June. But, that's just how we roll around here. We're in possession of the anti-magazine dating system. You'll learn to live with it. This month has a theme: (mostly) Pre-War jazz.* Smooth stylings for the guests of the Lenderman Wedding reception. Knock back a few flutes of champagne, eat some wedding cake and clink your fork against your glasses to get the newlyweds to kiss:
01. Boswell Sisters - When I Take My Sugar To Tea* I always found the label "Pre-War" to be a little funky and more than a little vain. What do you expect from the "greatest generation." On the 'mostly' tip, it's possible that the Dinah Washington and Hot Lips Page tunes are not, in fact, Pre-War, but I couldn't be bothered with scholarship this early into my son's summer vacation.
02. Casa Loma Orchestra - China Girl
03. Johnny Hodges - Alabamy Home
04. Jack Teagarden - Diga Diga Doo
05. Fletcher Henderson - Happy Feet
06. Dinah Washington - The Man I Love
07. Duke Ellington - Shout 'Em Aunt Tillie
08. Carolina Cotton Pickers - Western (Moten) Swing
09. Walter Page's Blue Devils - Blue Devil Blues
10. McKinney's Cotton Pickers - Plain Dirt
11. Ella Fitzgerald - Bei Mir Bist Du Schon
12. Chu Berry - Maelstrom
13. Boswell Sisters - Shine On Harvest Moon
14. Casa Loma Orchestra - Blue Prelude
15. Hot Lips Page - Old Man Ben
16. Duke Ellington - It Don't Mean A Thing
17. Fletcher Henderson - Sugar Foot Stomp
18. Dinah Washington - I Love You Yes I Do
19. Celestin's Original Tuxedo Jazz Orchestra - It's Jam Up
20. Monk Hazel & His Orchestra - Ideas
21. McKinney's Cotton Pickers - Miss Hannah
22. Original Yellow Jackets - Swinging At The Chat And Chew
23. Ella Fitzgerald - Rock It For Me

Ego surfing...I like the sound of that. Unfortunately for me, I'm don't see any level of "stardom" in the the future.
I really do dig your illustrations.
If you want a copy of the mix, just let me know and I'll get one out in the mail to you.
