Okay, so first off, I have to admit that I was one of the first ten people in line for the show. I'm not sure how that happened, exactly, but you can rest assured that I was feeling the shame of a scarlet "L" on my forehead. Regardless, I went the wrong way into the show, since I ended up hearing that I missed a rather large collection of reggae records on the other side of where I started. I did, however pull a copy of Public Enemy's Nations Of Millions for five bucks as my very first record of the show, so I didn't do all that bad. Can I say that it is a hella lotta work to go through that many records? Anyways, I ended up dropping a C and a half (including a preview of a seller's wares at his home a couple of days before the show), so without further ado--the stash:
Chisel - Set You Free
The Stairs - Mexican R&B
Leatherface - Dog Disco
James White & The Contortions - Second Chance
Keith Levene - Back Too Black ep
Martha & The Muffins - Metro Music
Wailers - Burnin'
Concretes - s/t
Jerry Lee Lewis - The "Killer" Rocks On
Ventures - Golden Greats
Laura Nyro and Labelle - Gonna Take A Miracle
Jimmy Yancey & Cripple Clarence Lofton - Pioneers Of Boogie Woogie
Talking Heads - Fear Of Music
John Hiatt - Slow Turning
Plimsouls - Zero Hour ep
Public Enemy - It Takes A Nation Of Millions To Hold Us Back
Black Sabbath - Paranoid
Black Sabbath - Vol. 4
Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark - Dazzle Ships
Run DMC - It's Tricky 12"
Various - Nuggets Vol. 4
Oingo Boingo - Only A Lad
Various - Girl Groups: The Story Of A Sound
Husker Du - Candy Apple Grey
J Geils Band - Live
Them - The Story Of Them
Talking Heads - Remain In Light
Soft Cell - Tainted Love 12"
Third World - Reggae Greats
Plus I got my brother a copy of Bob Marley's Exodus, the Clash's London Calling and the Wailer's Burnin'. Cuz he's a beginner and too lazy to get his ass to the show.
Overall I thought it was a pretty good haul. Anytime you go to an event where "collectors" gather, and you come out of there a) withouth dropping a bundle and b) spend around five dollars per item, you've done right by yourself. Well, only six more months to the April record show, which as many of you know, is just in time for my birthday. Hellz yeah!
